Q: I have 3 dogs and 1 baby and just so happen to live on a lovely nature preserve which means that I usually have 12 dirty paw prints running in and out of my house. I have been able to resist buying the rug of my dreams up until now because I was busy with all the other rooms in the house, but now I can't ignore what has been plaguing me for years. I have found 2 rugs, one which I am completely in LOVE with and one that is a poor substitute. The first LOVE unfortunately has it's own set of problems for me. It is wool and has a white accent. And the second is an outdoor durable version but without the detail and beauty of the first.
So the dilemma is how can I weatherproof the wool rug and does it really work? I read about scotch guarding and they don't recommend it on white which I don't care so much about if the white gets a little discolored, but does it really work? And if not is there another alternative? I really want the west elm rug but the second option may be a little more practical....I need a voice of reason!
