Summer days feel pretty fleeting so if you want to get the most out of it, jotting down some ideas of the things you really want to be sure to do is a good strategy. Over at Little Wonders' Days we found a great list of ideas to get you started.
Using a bucket or another favorite container to put your ideas in will make it even more fun for the kids to pull out a piece of paper each day. We especially like how Kelly at Little Wonders' Days color coded her ideas for half-day activities, all day trips, and general summer fun.
It may seem a bit over the top, but we're about to make our own list. We don't want to wonder what we did all summer when the season ends. What's on your list?
A few items from Kelly's list:
• Go blue berry and blackberry picking
• Water balloon fights
• Learn to hula hoop
• Wash the cars at home
• Make a summer reading journal
• Make Wind Chimes
• Make root beer

Ercol Bar Stool
We already made rootbeer! Check!
Great idea! I'm working on it now.
Funny-my 8yo daughter came to me with a similar idea. I had her write down all kinds of things we can do, then anything that was 'free' (go to the library, go swimming, go have a picnic) I copied a few more times to fill up our jar.
We made 1 rule-if you don't like what you picked, you can put back the first one, but that is all. So far we've picnicked and made rice krispie treat sushi. Tomorrow will be a new choice, can't wait!
Does anyone find it kind of disturbing to have a bucket list with your kids? Yes, this is a very cute idea but don't call it that. I don't want to explain to them "oh, well its a list you make of stuff you want to do before you die but in this case, fun summertime things!"
