A summer escape is not in the cards for me this summer, so I planned a staycation for me and my Mom in and around Philadelphia over the fourth of July holiday.
I took a cue from this post on how to prep for a staycation, and we did all of our tedious errands and chores before our vacation began. Then, with a budget in mind, we grocery shopped for some special BBQ meals and picked a new restaurant we wanted to try. We did research, and took advantage of holiday deals which included a trip to the local zoo. On a particularly hot day, we opted for a matinee and followed it with a long afternoon nap. Our big splurge was a trip into the city where we imagined ourselves as tourists and took an evening boat tour. Before we drove back home, we grabbed a lobster roll and pretended we were in Maine.
This was my first official staycation, and I have to say I ended the week rested, happy, and feeling like I saw something new. I'm curious — if you're planning a staycation this summer, what will you do?
