It's below zero in Chicago today and the snow has been piling up for days, so when I came across this gorgeous summer house in New Zealand, I immediately loved looking at the sunny, lush exterior as much I did the stylish interior.
The 1930s cottage is located on Waiheke Island, where owners Kate and Barry (Baz) Hastings have been permanent residents for 15 years. They renovated the cottage after moving from a larger residence on the island that had extensive olive groves. Now, they love living in a smaller house "in town", where Kate owns a store and Barry can commute to Auckland.
- A gray four-poster bed made of recycled rimu pairs walls with a rattan nightstand and oak bureau.
- Kate and Baz relax in a gorgeous, shaded outdoor space.
- The streamlined, airy master bathroom is tucked behind a partition wall.
