Longtime Apartment Therapy readers will recognize most of the apartment of Chicago designer Summer Thornton, like the living room shown above. It's one of our all time most popular House Tours, thanks to Summer's impeccable sense of style and wonderfully translatable design ideas. But one room we didn't see was the not-yet-renovated kitchen. Fast forward a few years; the work has been done…
… and the big reveal takes place in the current issue of House Beautiful, where it is the Kitchen of the Month!
At just 105 feet, it is a kitchen size and layout that is familiar to apartment and condo dwellers everywhere, but Summer has upped the glamour with luxurious finishes (that are a reasonable part of the budget when you are working with smaller amounts) and personality-filled elements (like the vintage table lamp on the bar).

Looks beautiful and love the vintage light. This is always one of my go to homes for decor inspiration.
So elegant. Can't wait to see the full layout.
I'm jealous all over again! Amazing!
As I am smack dab in the middle of my own kitchen renovation, it's images like this that stop me in my tracks and make me want to go back to bed, and never make any design decisions at all, and eat take out Chinese every night while sitting on the floor of an completely empty room. There are just some absolutely gorgeous kitchens out there.
Very stylish and elegant. The kitchen is the same square footage as the entire LuxPod apartment - 101 sq foot. PS IsItAHouseYet, keep positive I'm sure you will create something beautifully suitable for your lifestyle and what is important to you. An empty room can bring a lot of inspiration :-)
Gorgeous..
Thanks for the encouragement, JudithLuxPod!
Amazing kitchen, it's so beautiful you don't even notice the size.
So beautiful you don't even notice it's a kitchen.
Congratulations, Summer.
I ripped this page out of the magazine when I first saw it! I've wanted a white kitchen, but delayed because of cleaning issues that I dreaded. Black is perfect, particularly for that old Hollywood glamour style.
LOVE IT! Congrats :)
Does anyone know where the chandalier in the living room is from?
Absolutely stunning!!!!
its so beautiful..:)
Does anyone know where I could buy those counter stools? I'm really in love with them.
