With summer already in full swing in most places, it's time to hit your garden for some great BBQs and some pool parties. Summer is great, but if you want to party all night long, you need lights of some sort to make things even more fun. Most houses and places come with some sort of lighting solution, but these aren't always adequate. The Sun Jar is one of the most beautiful ways that we have found to light your garden. Grownups and kids will love these lights.

The Sun Jar was originally designed by Tobias Wong for Suck UK. For some reason, it reminds us of something that Link from Legend of Zelda would use. Basically, it captures the sun in a jar so that you can use the sun as a light at night. Sounds pretty poetic, but that's what it is. The Sun Jar captures light via a small solar panel. This panel will accumulate power and then discharge it at night. The Sun Jar looks like a frosty Mason jar, but it's got three high-tech energy efficient LED lamp inside and a high efficiency solar cell. The jar generates a soft natural light that is perfect to light up your garden and the patio for the upcoming summer parties. All you need to do to charge it is to place it in direct sunlight during the day.

The light diffused by the frosted jar gives the appearance of sunlight thanks to the warm colored LED lights inside. There is no switch on the sun jar. Instead, it has a light sensor that automatically activates the lights when it gets dark. Since this is a Mason jar of sorts, it's good to remember that it is completely water proof and can be left outside as a permanent garden lighting solution. All that you have to make sure is that the jar gets enough sunlight. This makes the Sun Jar actually a great night light for inside as well. If you really wish to turn the light off, there is an override switch inside the jar.

We think that these cute little jars are pretty awesome. A lot of thought has been put into them so that they can easily function as garden lights. They switch on and off by themselves and can last a very long time. You won't need a timer or dimmer on these lights. Also, the resulting glow of these lamps has a magical quality to them. They are available online via the Urban Outfitters store for $45 each and come in three different colors. [via Urban Outfitters and marlanmischief1]
