Love color and feeling bold? Check out this nifty idea. Two very intense colors painted on opposite sides of the same wall create very different moods in each space (even though it is sort-of one big room).

Of course, not every apartment has the architecture that this would work with — but imagine a portable screen with similar approach, paint each side a different color and divide your room by color, not just a physical screen.

Love that green! I may be biased since we have a similar color in our main living space:

I do have a question though: I noticed that the baseboards are painted. I've never painted ours because I love the crisp, clean look of the white. When do you decide to paint them vs. leaving them white/ivory?
I like how rather than setting the mood in the room they are actually in, the colors set the mood for the room just beyond them. Looking at the red wall, the living room behind it looks inviting. Looking at the green wall, the dining room it frames looks fresh, like kids should be coloring or playing legos at the table.
Apple green is really in. I love accent colors used in this way.
Yellow Brick Home your place is very nice love your colors and pooch.
@powwlita: I agree, it has that surprising effect. And it's so perfect because when your in the dining room the feel of the whole space is more active, and when your in the living room everything feels more relaxed. It's great, I love this idea, would certainly do this myself if my own home would offer the possibility.
my apt has the possibility. i've thought about it several times
wow, this is a great idea! it really does change the feeling of the space. talk about a great illustration for how color can change mood
yellowbrickhome - i have the same curtain/mat combo in my bathroom! i love them. your house looks really great.
Great colours! But I had the arch separating my living & dining rooms removed, & it's made the space so much bigger! I guess I could paint half the space one colour & the other 1/2 another to denote the change of space uses.
Ok, I love this green - just the mix of soft and bright I've been looking for. Anyone know what it is?
This is a good solution for some people. It wouldn't work in my place, though.
