My parents recently purchased a new place and while they were really happy that the home had an updated kitchen, they didn't love the accent tile that had been installed in the backsplash. Because it was practically brand new they weren't interested in ripping it out, so instead we came up with a clever way to disguise it.

Using vinyl that is usually used for wall art purchased from a friend of mine who makes signs, we were able to cover up the unattractive tile and make the kitchen look more streamlined and modern.

Here are the simple steps:

1. Cut the vinyl product to the exact size of the tiles using an x-acto knife. We also tried a paper cutter and a rotary blade and found the x-acto easiest to work with.
2. Carefully place the vinyl on the tile making sure to keep the line consistent for each tile.
3. Push out any air bubbles with your fingers as you apply the vinyl.

This project is a very easy way to quickly update a kitchen backsplash, and to make it even better it's removable at any time.
