Thanks to the Mid-Century Modernist we visited a new blog today called Spy Vibe which is all about the super stylish world of sixties spy entertainment. We had to...
...take a second look at these totally right-on-the-money sets from Captain Scarlet and Mysterons.
We've never seen the Captain Scarlet program before but have always admired the groovy wonderfulness of the art direction of the other Gerry Anderson shows that we've checked out such as Thunderbirds (go Penelope!) and Joe 90.
And as well as looking drop dead cool, it sounds like a fun show. According to Spy Vibe: Spectrum HQ is a floating sky-base with vast windows, pop art colors, computer and microphone consoles, and a hip lounge where the super model jet pilots hang out! They always seem to be browsing through interesting magazines and chilling to the catchy organ music of Barry Gray. But when the alarm sounds, these groovy agents rise up through the ceiling into their planes for immediate take-off.
