We love serious speakers. But with superior sound quality comes speakerboxes the size of Lake Superior—and a tough road ahead as you figure out where in the apartment to put 'em. Wouldn't it be nice to just slap the speakers thinly against the wall?
Really smart dudes at the Fraunhofer Institute for Digital Media Technology (IDMT) in Germany teamed up with some guys at headphone technology experts Sennheiser to produce this world wonder of a speaker.
What's so surprising? Well, it's less than an inch thick. We dare you to refrain from 'That's what she said' jokes.
And this model is different from other small-impact-big-sound speakers in that this super-thin loudspeaker can hang directly on the wall. No minimum distance rule here. Even if these flat panel loudspeakers are placed directly on the wall or integrated into media equipment or furniture, they can reproduce a frequency range from 100Hz-20kHz.
We're looking forward to a life where stellar sound can literally come at us through the walls!
