We were instantly inspired when we spied Tom Kuhne's Supersystem Shelves. An exercise in minimalism, these shelving rails mix a little leaning bookcase with an art ledge. The slim lines of Supersystem rest on the ground and are anchored to the wall in two places. The shallow depth is ideal for a small space as it allows the owner to take advantage of wall space and adds texture to a blank wall. Click below the jump for a lot more pictures...
Tom Kuhne's Supersystem 1 is made of solid oak...

Supersystem 2 is silver aluminum. Super lightweight and strong, the hollow beams are finished at the ends with acrylic inserts...

Supersystem 3 features five colors of coated aluminum and has the option of being fully mounted on a wall (though this reduces its potential to hold weight).

The colored aluminum is attractive and a similar look could be achieved by staining wood. We're already thinking that this could be a great update to our own space and we hope this offers readers some inspiration for a DIY shelving system!

Pricing info? I went to the site and couldn't find any. Did anyone else see numbers?
The design will sure cut down on dusting!

Architonic has a price request function.
Love it, especially the aluminum version.
What a great space saver.
Beautiful!
I think the wood is beautiful, but I'd be scared to put many books on it! It looks a little flimsy.
Price requests = I probably can't afford it. Sigh. It would make a great room divider for my apartment.
How hard would this be to make? It's all 2x4s or 1x4s! I guess one would need to be creative about either doweling (difficult/pretty) or bracketing (easy/not pretty).
