Support Local Independent Businesses This Friday

If you live in the Bay Area, eschew the traditional shopping frenzy at the box stores this Friday in favor of retail therapy with some local independent businesses. Pull out your plaid in honor of Plaid Friday and take advantage of special offers at many participating stores. Plaid feels so much more festive than black anyway.

Plaid Friday was created by two local independent businesses, Blankspace Gallery and the Compound Gallery, as a way to tie into the growing local movement and elevate the awareness of the abundant and thriving independent businesses located in neighborhoods throughout the East Bay.

Help celebrate by supporting participating shops on Friday, November 27th and throughout this Holiday season. Wear plaid on November 27th to show support at stores displaying the special plaid placards. Click here for a list of the participating businesses that are offering specials for Plaid Friday.

Once you are done shopping, head over to Blankspace Gallery and Compound Gallery between 6pm and 9pm for a Plaid Friday after party and the kick off to their annual holiday extravaganza sale, Holidayland, featuring 100 local artists, designers and crafts people. Holiday shopping feels so much better when you walk away with a slew of one-of-a-kind gifts (and maybe a few fabulous housewares for yourself).
