Surroundings, the charming little floral and garden event shop that once occupied an English basement on Massachusetts Ave (near Union Station) has moved to 11th St NE – right off Lincoln Park...

Their new location is a white brick row house with a large back patio and a moderate front yard. Plants and flowers are placed everywhere creating a lush and inviting outdoor environment. In addition to the vibrant plants and garden accessories in front and back (including a lovely pergola and a large fountain), they updated the basement bodega, turning it into a country market/gift shop.

So don't miss venturing into the store, where in addition to standard grocery items, you will surely find something that catches your eye. We posted about some of the Market's renovations earlier. It’s so bright, airy and inviting - it’s hard to remember the old grocery store.

Surroundings' owner Charles Hudman has more than 30 years of experience in floral design. Originally from New Orleans, his expertise and knowledge are a great addition to our neighborhood. As well as garden merchandise, they offer floral and landscape design services.

The owners are thrilled to be in this new neighborhood and, as neighbors, we are thrilled to have them here. If rumors are true and they open a deli counter in the market, we can't wait to picnic across the street in the park!
