With spring finally here, we're getting excited to break out the bike and get riding. Riding a bike is a great way to be fit and green, and now there's even more incentive — the government will pay you to bicycle commute to work! Find out more and take our survey after the jump...
The Bicycle Commuter Act, which began January 1, 2009, entitles employers to reimburse their employees up to $20 a month to cover bicycle commuting costs between work and home. The provision was part of the recent Renewable Energy Tax legislation and its aim was to give bike commuters similar compensation to people who receive credits for taking transit or cars to and from work.
Visit the League of American Bicyclists for more information, and don't forget to pass the info to your employer if they don't already offer this benefit.
