No way. 2 golden retrievers? There would be no room for anyone else! It's the one dog hair free sanctuary in my house. They sleep on their beds.

My dog has his own (very comfortable) bed in the bedroom and bean bag pouffe in the living room that I don't sit on - they are always his.

He also has his own door to the fenced yard, and can come and go as he pleases (within our property). As long as he has potential for muddy paws (or worse), he needs his own places to put his feet up.

We had a cat who lived to be 22. In her last years, she slept all the time. The main activity that we enjoyed with her was sleeping together. When she got to the point where she couldn't jump onto the bed anymore, I made her a ramp. As we got ready for bed, she would appear from wherever she had been sleeping walk up the ramp, ask for a little petting. Then, she would curl up at our feet and purr all night long.

After 22 years, we got in the habit of sleeping a certain way -not moving our feet abruptly - so as not to disturb her. Even 2 years after her death, I still wake sometimes thinking that she is there and I need to be careful with my feet.

It has been 2 years since she died and I still wake up sometimes and think

We have a 95 pound Akita. She sleeps in the bedroom, right next to, but never on, our bed. It was a bit hard for me when she was a little thing, but we knew what she would grow up to be. Also, having the dog sleep in our room, but at a physically lower level is good for the "pack dynamics", it reinforces that she is a part of the pack, but that she isn't the alpha. (which given how smart she is, is a good thing)

Every night, our queen-sized bed is filled with a 6-ft man, a 5'6 woman, and three tiny dogs. It's how we do it in our tribe.

Our dogs tend to sleep with us when my wife is feeling guilty about leaving them alone too long during the day. We have one 5 lb. chihuahua who is a pleasure to sleep with until he becomes restless - he burrows, walks on us, and sits on our noses while we sleep. Gross. The other dog is a 10 lb. chihuahua mix (think pit bull mix - not sure how that happend) who can't control his licker (haha). He licks himself, then our dog, then our faces while we sleep. Again, gross. Ultimately, we've found it's better to let them sleep with us on occasion than for them to scratch and whine at the door. We have a cleaning lady come once a week and she does the sheets, which helps a lot. Otherwise we'd have a hairy, stanky, nasty bed.

Sometimes one or both of my cats will park on the end of my bed, sometimes not. And if they do, they are usually not there all night. They have their own beds but actually prefer chairs.

I know that the different city ATs are separate, in some way, but all the posts run together on the homepage and, more often than not, don't reflect anything unique to their cities and/or reference other cities. I appreciate this question but, sheesh, the recycling and reusing is making me feel like we're still in Green month!

I dated a guy once who was telling me how his dog sleeps with him... I said, "Not under the covers?!" and he replied "Nnnnooooo." In a way that told me he didn't realize it was gross until just then.

I also know a woman who lives and sleeps with two giant dogs. Great Danes I think. When she got married - she put a bed in another room for her husband and they each sleep with a dog!!!
What the he!! is the point of that!

More reason to embrace my dad (the rancher) who says... "We have a house... and we have several barns. Animals don't belong in the house!"

My cat does. He nudges me to lift the blanket so he can tuck in, facing me, head on the other pillow (blanket up to his chin). So cute!

My chihuahua did not sleep in the bed at night, but we did take naps together. Sometimes in the morning when I slept in and my husband was leaving for work, the dog would indicate that he wanted up on the bed---and my husband would lift him up and put him on the bed with me. Not all the time. Just often enough to be a sweet treat for both of us.

In a word, yes. My daschund sleeps with us most every night. He's getting old though and nowadays sometimes opts to sleep by himself on the sofa. And I admit, on these nights, I kinda miss him!

I have an 85 pound black lab that sleeps UNDER my bed (he just squeezes under- I'm not sure how, really) and during the winter he will come up and nudge under my feather duvet. Also, when my alarm goes off, he jumps up for a quick snuggle and belly-scratch session.

As a teenager, two of my family's 5 cats would sleep on my bed whether or not I was there. When I slept, they both stretched out lengthwise against me on either side. Roscoe, the older one, would occasionally want to get under the covers and if I was on my back with my arms out (which is how I sleep a lot), he would get right up next to me and put his head on my shoulder.

My pug sleeps with me almost every night. He also has a bed, a crate... or will choose to sleep under the bed, which makes me nervous. !

My dogs come up on my bed to snuggle but don't sleep there unless I'm away, then I'm told they'll nap and sometimes sleep there where they can smell me.

KTG, you remind me what my cat Roger loves to do. When changing the sheets, he loves to jump onto the bed and run around the billowing air pockets i make with the sheet. i make waves of air pockets over and over for him. he loves it!

My pug sleeps in our bed. He is the main reason we decided to get a King size bed LOL! Sometimes when I wake up he has his head on my pillow and is snoring right into my face. Some may think its gross or weird, but that's what I call a family.

Every night its me, my boyfriend, and my Bichon all squashed into my full size bed. Emma likes to sleep with her head on the pillow and her body under the covers just like we do! She snores sometimes and tends to be a bed hog, but when she feels like she doesn't have enough space she jumps down onto the floor... even if its just me and her in the bed. I call her a "sellout" and try to get her to come back, but she typically just looks at me with a sleepy look on her face, ignores my need to cuddle with her, and goes to sleep curled in a pile of blankets on the floor. Right now, she's laying on my feet.

My dog doesn't sleep in my bed all night with me, but my bed is the only one she's allowed to sleep in. She's a Sheltie, and after she gets up with my Mom to go out for her first walk of the day (as Mom is an early bird and leaves for work early), she gets to come into my room and sleep at the foot of my bed until I get up. It's a little treat for both of us. I get a furry little footwarmer, and she gets to cuddle a bit.

She's getting on in years (almost 11) and she's been having a bit of trouble getting up on the bed of late, I need to look into getting her some doggy stairs.

The cat sometimes sleeps in my room, especially if I'm alone in the house. He likes to curl up right next to my face and smother me with fur.

The cat sleeps on the bed, in the bed, under the bed, and sometimes allows us to share it with her....

If we get a dog, though, doggie gets her own bed. Just the way it goes.

Our two cats rule the roost...and we are so okay with it! They seem to spend half the night sleeping on the couch and half the night sleeping in the bed with us. They come and go as they please and morning can find me with a cat at my feet and one on my pillow. They both tend to stick to my side since my husband is a 6'6" toss and turn type...but he's not immune to being walked on and used as a stepping stone. Our bed is their favorite place to sleep (with or without us) and we wouldn't want it any other way!

Aww, in bed, for sure! Cooper (tabby) is the best hot water bottle ever.

My pit-mix sleeps in the bed OR the cats do, but rarely do the cats and her at the same time. Though when they do its really, really cute.

She's a little dog, 40 lbs. If she were an English Mastiff, or something, I'd make her a bed on the floor.

I sleep on one side of the huge bed, my tiny cat on the other side, on her own big pillow. That way I can pet or watch her sleep without getting out of bed.

I understand why some dogs and people sleep together others don't. Its very much about the human and the dog some dogs do not want to sleep with you as much as you do not want to sleep with the them.. then if you have really big dogs no one will sleep well.

For me since I have had Jack Russell Terriers its automatic that they sleep with me, they need to burrow under the covers and I got use to it now I don"t know what I will do without my dog in bed with me.

What could be betta than 3 big ol' kitties snugglin'ya up?...

Every moring I wonder how two relativly small cats can make our queen size bed so crowded at night!

with 2 whippets who MUST be under the covers, it's like sleeping with a bundle of sticks sometimes - all legs poking this-a-way and that. but they are professional snugglers and do a first rate job of burrowing, head shuffling and sighing until everything is just right.

The dog sometimes, mostly always, sleeps with me, especially if it is thundering outside. And just try and keep the cat off my bed! or the couch, or the chair, or the dogs actual bed...!

My beagle has his own bed. Two actually, so he can choose which room he wants to sleep in. He's stubborn & would take over the house if he thought he could, so it's an easy way of reminding him that I'm the boss.

He's allowed on the couch though, so if we're in a snuggling mood, we meet up there. :)

I never allowed my cat on my bed when I lived in my old flat, as she was a kitten then and would bite my hands while I slept. But now I've moved, and she has got wiser, so about an hour or so before bedtime she goes into the bedroom and hides under the bed. She absolutely cannot be coaxed to go out. In the morning, I will find her sleeping on the bed, sometimes between my feet.
Oh, and she doubles up as an alarm clock, too. On Saturdays and Sundays she meows loudly at exactly the same hours I wake up on weekdays.

My dachshund doesn't sleep with me, even though he has the option to. He jumps in my at bed time and gets petted and snuggles. When the lights go out, he jumps to the end of the bed, by my feet and burrows himself into the duvet cover by going through the buttons... my comforter hangs to the floor. In the morning he sometimes gets stuck and I have to unbutton him.

Our cats used to sleep in the bedroom, but we caught them peeing in the closet and now I don't trust them anywhere near there! Plus they meow anytime you move and I'm a turner.

One sleeps at the foot using someone's feet as a headrest, the other burrows and gloms on to my husband or me like a remora.

My little Silky Terrier sleeps with me. He likes to curl up against the back of my neck. Sometime in the middle of the night he hops down and finishes his sleeping on the floor. Maybe I toss and turn too much, or do I *gasp* snore?

Lotus Blossom (9 lb Shih-Tzu) sleeps on The Beloved's head - no problem for me!

I let the cat sleep with me, since he's small. the hound must sleep on the floor. . she's still a puppy, and wants to cause a ruckus at night, and she weighs quite a bit more. . .

My dogs (big lab mixes) have always slept on the bed. I love their big solid bodies, very comforting. Cats, too. My last dog just died, but while she was alive, I took in a cat that hates dogs. The cat would hiss at her, scratch her--blood everywhere. Except on the bed. While on the bed, they'd practically sleep back-to-back and the cat wouldn't notice. I've realized since then that whoever I have in the house (I foster stray cats until I can find them homes) the bed is some weird demilitarized zone, everyone lays down their grudges and is at peace there.

For me, when dating, a potential mate who let pets sleep in the bed was an INSTANT relationship breaker. I've never slept with pets in the bed and never will. Under ANY circumstances.

There's nothing better than taking a nap with your cat.

my pug has always slept with me (9 years) until this summer... maybe she is too hot? sometimes she will join us in bed at some point in the night but i have to say that it hurts my feelings! i miss her snuggly little self... i am hoping that the winter months will lure her back.

My cat always goes to bed with me, but I've never mentally adjusted and tend to knock him off somewhere between bedtime and morning. But he just keeps coming back for more.

for all his years my cat slept, not just in my bed but on my pillows. i would start off sleeping on a pillow and he on the bed. in the middle of the night he would sneak up to the pillows, lie down and stretch across both of them, pushing me off in my sleep. i would wake every morning to find that my head was on a tiny corner of pillow. what can i say? i was a wuss when it came to my puss.

The bed is totally off limits for my 50 lb dog. The only exception is when me and my boyfriend are not at home. I know that's when he's on our bed, because you can see all the sheets riled up and I'm ok with that. I just don't like my dog sleeping with me.

Our cats sleep on the bed some of the time. When they pass and we adopt again, we will have to outlaw it to help my husband's allergies but we can't bear to deny them now that they've been doing it already for years. Especially since one likes to share my pillow and fall asleep nuzzling in my hair. Yes, it does have it's drawbacks (occasional paw in the face and hair pulling to name a couple) so before you say, ew gross, they get bathed twice a month and I bathe every morning. And frankly, it's hard to say no when you're on the receiving end of that much adorable affection.

My cat very often jumps into bed with me, lets out a loud "meep" which signals me to get into side snuggle position with my hand out. She then does a few turns and plops down resting her adorable fuzzy cheek and whiskers in my hand. We sleep like this for hours.

I have a tiny dog and he tends to sleep between me and the man. He's a good space heater in the winter.

I used to let my dog sleep in bed with me, but it was contributing to her separation anxiety, so I stopped. Plus I got hair in my mouth once which was a result of all her snuggling on the bed.

I used to have a doggie door when my dog was a puppy. One day she went poop in the backyard, and not noticing, stepped on it immediately afterwards. Being the happy, frisky spaniel she was, she came back into the house and ran all around the place, jumping on my couch, my roommate's bed, my bed - smearing her pooh-coated paws all over everything.

Yeah, not a big fan of dogs on the bed. Their domain is the floor! ;-)

My two dogs and cat sleep in the bed with me, I wouldn't have it otherwise. I often find it hard to sleep without them when I'm out of town.

My cat has to sleep directly against me, against my back or my front, depending. A couple of times, I've almost rolled over onto her.

She also likes to sit on my shoulder in the morning, when she's not attacking my feet and other appendages.

I like big dogs so it would only be an occasional treat if they were to sleep in the bed w/ me every now and then. But I'm huge with cuddling w/ my pets so they'd probably always be on the couch with me.

My last dog didn't like being up on the bed, too soft and unstable for him...I don't think he got the point that you were supposed to lay down on it. ^_^

I don't think I would have been able to stand it even if he did like sleeping on a bed. If it was anything like how he rode in the car, I'd have no space at all. He used to sidle up next to me and lean ALL of his weight against me. We would be like two kids in the back seat arguing over who's side ends where.

Once a boyfriend or husband comes along though, that's pretty much the end of dog in the bed. I doubt they'd appreciate dog hair on their side of the mattress. I know I wouldn't.

Our cat Whisper used to sleep in our bed. Sometimes I used to contort my body so as not to disturb her! She was almost 19 when she died last year and this is a fond memory for me. Thank you.

Our platform bed is 12 inches off the floor, so our dogs have found their favorite den there. They do hop up on top of covers occasionally, near the foot of the bed. They both have plenty of fur and get too hot for covers. The kitty would sleep with us every night if she could, but we save it for a treat. She is great until morning, when she puts her paw on my face to let me know it's time to feed her. If it's too early, I kick her out, and she heads downstairs to the couch.
