Over the past few days, every time we use our credit card we get a call from our bank's fraud prevention hotline to verify our transactions. We've never had them verify transactions in the past, and we're not using credit cards we haven't used in awhile. We wanted to know if this has been happening to you as well. We're curious, if this is a widespread thing, are banks upping their fraud prevention due to the current economic climate? Are they worried more people will be desperate enough to steal credit cards? Or are they so worried about losing more money?

Are you in a location you wouldn't normally be in? Or have you returned from such a location? I got calls when I came back from Europe because I hadn't notified them that I was back. Might be worth looking in to.
