From start to finish, how long did it take you to put together your nursery or child's room? Did you start putting together your style tray and clipping pages out of shelter magazines before your family expanded, or are you a 'done in a weekend' decorator?
We have surveyed the cost of putting together a nursery, but time is just as big a factor as money, especially when one is counting down to the arrival of an new family member! So what we are wondering is this....

Considering I first saw the quilt I wanted two years before I got pg, I guess it took longer than a year. But it was about a year of thought and planning in earnest. I didn't actually acquire anything until the 3rd trimester, though, b/c I'm too superstitious.
I'm using the same nursery now for my second child, so I don't think it was a waste of time. I ended up with something I loved so much that I didn't feel the need to change anything 5 years later when my daughter came along.
I put my son's nursery together in ONE DAY. I had my mom, mother in law, friends, and other family come over and we all worked together and suprised my husband with a completed nursury at the end of the day. We painted walls and some furniture, sewed bedding, picked up furniture and other materials from the store, etc... all in one day! Mind you, it took some planning, for sure. ESPECIALLY trying to surprise my husband.... I had to do all of my purchasing THAT DAY (some the night before) so he wouldn't see the transactions.
It was a GREAT experience! All of us ladies got come together to bless the newest addition to our family with our hard work, laughter, and fun!
All the big spends were on lay-by until after the baby was born. Most of the work involved planning the layout and storage areas, setting up the furniture, and checking for any safety issues. I actually didn't put that much effort in it, because I'd rather spend the time designing it once my child/ren can help choose colours, etc. with me, which won't be for a few more years.
