We just received and installed our RAM upgrade via Crucial.com and we're loving the noticeable improvement in responsiveness (especially with that memory oinker, Photoshop). We can't believe we were just getting by with 2GB this whole time...now we're thinking of just maxing our machine out at 8GB.
Do you out there upgrade your own memory, or do you leave your machine stock until you upgrade to a whole new machine?

4GB Macbook Pro is the way to Go!
4GB Dell XPS M1730...is okay, but if I had any say in the matter, I'd've gotten a Mac. Work schmirk.
i've got 2 gb in my 24" imac and it runs great. I hate the price of going bigger. I probably would have if it wasn't like an extra $500 or more to do it...

3GB at work and 2GB at home. I'm in dire need of an upgrade though.
I maxed out my mb pro to 4gb for only $90. There's no reason it should cost $500 to go to 4gb on an iMac.
to upgrade the current highest end 24" imac it is $400 to upgrade to 4 gigs, it already comes with 2gb. There second highest 24" imac only comes with 1 gb of ram, to upgrade that to 4 is $500.
I bought my imac before the newest set of metal ones came out, it's an intel but it's white, and i remember it being like $250 or $300 to upgrade it to 3gb and i want to say it was over 500 to get the 4gb
I don't know what kind of deal you got on upgrading your ram, but i just looked on their site and it's $400 to upgrade a macbook pro to 4gb as well...
jmorey: I believe mscot is talking about RAM vendors outside of Apple for memory upgrades. I just checked Crucial's prices for the Apple iMac 2.16GHz Intel Core 2 Duo (24-inch) and it's US $45.99 for a 2GB kit. You can max out a current MacBook Pro for $105.99.
I have no idea how much RAM I have (and it doesn't matter because I'm getting a new computer tonight or Saturday), but I feel a need to put my cat into a CPU.
NEVER buy RAM from Apple. They seem to have a 400% markup.
I just bought a Mac Pro and I got 4GB from Crucial for less than I would have paid for 2GB from Apple.
I'm also a big fan of coastmemory.com. Cheap and fast, on the East coast, anyway.
