This week we are couch and hotel surfing in California. It's a week sandwiched in between my sis's wedding shower and the big day. For all of the days in the middle, we're shuffling around, dependent on available sofas and budget for a finite number of hotel stays. So far: 4 nights and 2 crash pads. Tonight we go back to the first place. Tomorrow we hit the Crowne Plaza for two nights in Palo Alto. Then it's two nights at the wedding site:
Seascape Resort on Monterey Bay. In total we'll have slept in four different beds in one week - not our ideal "escape"!
Speaking of ideal August Escapes...what is yours??

One of my most cherished vacation memories was when I was a kid my immediate family and a few extended relatives rented a huge beach house in Kitty Hawk, N.C. It was paradise. We'd wake up early to watch the dolphins out in the ocean, spend most of the day at the beach and then grill some great fish at the end of the day. Totally relaxing and a lot of fun. I'm trying to get a group of friends to do something similar next summer.
hands down the isle of capri.
the sun, the sea, the wind, the lemon blossoms, the saracen towers.... the food!, the glass & marble hotels with cake & stewed prunes for breakfast, a book, a polkadot bikini, wide-brimmed hat and no one else in the whole wide world.
All of the above! I'm such a travel addict, I can't really pick just one ideal. Each one is ideal at different times. I'm currently itching to do a trip that's a combo of new city touring and beach chillin', in either the Greek Isles or Costa Rica, or both (hahahaha)!
Riding my bike down the Mosel, helping with the grape harvest and being paid in wine. That's the plan for my 30th birthday, anyway.
I agree with you pisceanchick - travel addict! It depends what mood I am in or what I did for my last vacation. I am a HUGE fan of going to the mountains, skiing, hanging out by the fire, cooking and eating with my bf or a great group of friends, looking out a huge picture window while sipping a great glass of wine. I could just as easily stay in a beach hut for a week, or stay at the Four Seasons in NY. Bring it all on...
