Susie, like many of us, was having trouble finding the time to get her hands in the dirt and garden. Busy weeks and even busier weekends were keeping her from getting her springtime planting done until she realized she could take advantage of the cooler evenings.
Under the cover of twinkle lights and the soft, quiet twilight, Susie took advantage of the night to get a vertical succulent planting put together. Inspired by Flora Grubb, Susie made an 18" inch vertical planting using a plastic planting guide from lowes that her husband framed out with wood. Reading about Susie's nighttime adventure reminded me how nice it is to spend some time, quietly and on my own with my hands in the dirt creating something lovely that I'll enjoy for a long time.
Thanks for sharing Susie! Also, you might remember Susie's Backyard Retreat from a couple of years ago where she transformed a dried up lot of dirt onto a backyard oasis perfect for outdoor entertaining.

i've been kicking myself for not getting my dahlia bulbs in the ground yet....never thought of dropping them in by the light of the moon. thanks!!
Doing stuff at a different time of day? Wow, why didn't I think of that?!
Where did she get those string lights?! I LOVE THEM.
abmt:
The string lights are standard mini white lights sold for christmas trees. We just twisted the cords so the lights would hang unevenly. We put in small hoos along the eaves of the house and the garage and ran the strings in adiagonal / triangle configuration.

Great idea. Great yard. Thanks for sharing!
Before the days are long, I often see my avid gardener neighbor do a lot of work while wearing one of those mini headlamps.
