Suzy owns one of those gorgeous homes up in the Hollywood Hills of California. Besides having the standard TV setup with speakers in the family room, she also has a smaller, portable TV setup in the living room. Here's a closer look at her portable entertainment system, which is used mainly for karaoke and entertaining guests.
As a complement to her bar cart that holds bottles of liquor and an ice bucket, Suzy has a matching entertainment cart with wheels that holds a karaoke machine and microphone, with a Sony Bravia TV perched on top. Suzy's CD stand is a functional piece of decoration. Besides adding some personality to the room, it also holds all her karaoke CDs.
We like Suzy's setup because it is compact, taking up minimal space in her living room, and is portable at the same time.

White Enamel Flatwa...
this is not decoration...
This is a tv stand on wheels
I think I had something like this in college.
Is this Jeff Lewis taunting us? If so, hilarious!
I'm confused. I feel like I'm missing something. How is this a design concept? I understand the the practicality, but this just looks like a cluttered bachelor pad on an old Levitz tv stand. Vintage? Not. Repurposed? Not. Fit for Apartment Therapy home page? Not. Disappointed? Definitely.
I can't even imagine ...
Seriously? Are we down to posting pics of our electronic toys now? Someone is going to lose in this contest. Easily.
I agree with zeesgirl - not sure how this works within the realm of AT. What's the angle here? Usually there is a design angle or a clutter angle or something. The cords are exposed and the entertainment system is what it is - an entertainment system that is exposed.
Er....?
I was first thinking something not entirely positive, but by the photos I see this is more function than style and I should be more open to 'not everything on AT is about good visual design'. Although this is good design, for function. It looks like she pulls the tv out to host karaoke parties, wanting to keep it out of the way at other times. She has a wide open living area, with only a small coffee table, for small snacks while entertaining. A large wrap around couch, for many guests. I'm guessing that she watches very little TV since she only gets OTA channels with no cable or satellite. I'm curious about the large number remotes and only 3 items to point it at, I'm guessing she's not had much luck with Universal remotes, but she keeps trying. She loves to sing, and singers judging by her CD collection of singers. I would call this a Karaoke station rather than a home entertainment unit. I'm not saying I like it, but I get it. I would of also liked to see the bar cart, since it was mentioned in the article
Huh? How is this design considering you can buy something like this at Best Buy and can be found in thousands of frat guy apartments? I have been on the hunt for a tv stand that can fit in a corner and the only ones I can find look like this one. They are ugly as sin AND they show all the wires and cords.
A.T. has really been getting lazy lately. i am here less then half the time i used to be. :(
Reading this post, I kept waiting for the big reveal, like "I used to own this bargain-basement TV stand stuffed ass-to-ears with remotes and power cords, and I had no place to put it, so it made my gorgeous house look like a college dorm. But now I have (drum roll, please) - this!" Alas, there was no reveal, and not a hint of irony to be found.
Tomorrow on AT - hiding your pony kegs, and how to mount rock posters with double-sided scotch tape.
No innovation here and it's kinda fug. Boo.
Yeah I'm not really getting this one either... especially with of the big tangle of wires in the back. Do the wires need to be untangled to move the cart, or does its "portability" require unplugging and replugging all the components in??
On the plus side... I do like the artwork on the wall in the back!
Thanks for making me laugh.
Too many remotes. Call me, I'll put a stylish touch panel in there for you.
Karaoke through a B&O Sound System? Shudder....
Wait a minute....the B&O CD Player is a "stand" for cds? I give up.
