You loved the upcycled Vintage Wool Stockings we posted last week, but balked at the spendy price tag. If you're in a DIY groove, we found this easy-to-follow set of patterns for making not one but FIVE different stocking styles using old sweaters.
These patterns were created by Dana Willard (of the craft blog MADE) and are intended to be easy enough for even beginner sewers to use. Dana touts this as a great project for the whole family: "Drive to your local thrift shop (or your husband's closet), let each child pick out a thrifted sweater, and transform them into one-of-a-kind adorable Christmas stockings."
The step-by-step instructions come with color photos and a printable stocking pattern. Each set of five patterns sells for $6 at Dana's Etsy shop, and will be sent to you as a PDF file after payment is received.

Genius!! Now I have a way to use up both my hubby's shredded shirt that he loves and my beautiful pink cashmere sweater that my beloved accidentally put through the wash (hot wash, full dry. Oh, dear.).
Thanks!
I love stuff made by Dana. She has great stuff. I made some felt stockings with simple blanket stitches. http://www.simplymodernmom.com/2009/12/blanket-stitch-christmas-stockings/
