You know what I can't get enough of? Blue velvet. On a chair, on a sofa, on a cake - blue velvet gets me every time.
I think there's something about that combination of gorgeous, saturated color and and luxe material. You just wanna touch it.

Shaw's Original Fir...
meeee too dude. me too. p.s. is anyone else getting tired of "chevron" prints everywhere, or is it just me?
I have a navy velvet chair that my husband SWEARS is purple. I say, let AT readers decide...

#8 is the bee's knees.
@The Nesting Game: Looks purple to me. Sorry.
#6 Looks delicious.
Love deep blue and teal velvet--in moderation. Some of these look overdone to me.
@ andrea: Yes, getting tired of chevron prints.
Oh, and @ The Nesting Game: That chair looks purple to me!
My dream couch is a navy blue velvet couch. I would LOVE to have #6!
@The Nesting Game, that color is called Royal Blue, which is a purplish blue.
@nesting game
I think your husband could be right about the effect of sun on it, no matter what your mom says. Maybe dig up that bolt and see if what is left on the roll still looks like what's on the chair?
@andrea
It's only in 2 out of 10 pictures here.
#5 is my dream, though I'm sure it isn't too comfy.
@Nesting Game, I hear you. Everyone is going to think it looks purple, because it's next to that baby blue rug. I bet it would look navy blue if it were on the wood floor. I don't really see any red hues in the chair itself.
@Andrea. Down with Chevron!!! A little goes a long way. Can we just have a toss-pillow and call it a day?
I took this photo of blue velvet armchairs in a hotel lobby recently because I loved the look so much.
I just bought some navy fabric to recover my couch. Can't wait :D
@Nesting Game I vote indigo. I agree it would look different depending on light and surroundings.
I bought a very cute blue velvet dining chair (chloe chair) from World Market not too long ago... it was on sale for $99 and I use it as a computer chair. I LOVE it! Just like chevron stripes, I think a little velvet goes a long way.. although I kind of dig the gaudy look and would totally do a giant sofa in it.
@ The Nesting Game: I agre with nycagnes- Royal Blue. Definitely not eggplant (eggplant is more berry colored to me) but probably not navy, either.
@andrea, chevrons are extremely tired
@nesting game, that chair is Grimace Purple
@nycagnes, Indigo, as ebarett3 points out, is the one that's purple/blue... royal blue is like the shade of a PanAm uniform
@AT, I think image 5 should be credited to Rue, not AT? http://www.ruemag.com/gallery/living-rooms/?nggpage=2
@andrea, @elisha, et cetera, @bellsonhopi,
oh come on, aren't there any twin peaks/david lynch fans around? that's the only (and best) reason i can fathom for pairing blue velvet and chevron together
@damnfinecoffee, David Lynch is among my favorite film makers. And chevron prints are pretty and classic. But a trend is a trend is a trend, and the large-scale (curtains and rugs and chairs everywhere) chevron print trend is looking fatigued to me.
There seem to be two kinds of trends: 1) trends for maybe once hip, often goofy items that stay around for way too long (ANTLERS!!); and 2) trends for classic, beautiful things, like MCM furniture and chevron prints, that just need to be toned down or retired for a while.
