Tablet Apps to Simplify Tax Time

After receiving yet another official looking piece of mail with the numbers "10" in front of it we know that the time to start putting together the tax paperwork for 2011 is far overdue. If you're like me and are a naturally disorganized procrastinator...

...then these apps to help you prepare and get ready for tax-time might be just the ticket for a smoother filing. All of the apps featured in this week's roundup are free and all work on both iPad and Android.

Turbo Tax 2011 (on Android SnapTax): Looking for an app that will help you prepare your taxes AND file them? Well that's Turbo Tax. One thing to note, while the apps are free, you will be charged to file your taxes depending on what state you're filing in and which forms you need to file.

Evernote: While this app will not help you file your taxes, it will help you get a grip on your receipts throughout the year. We've written about Evernote before and it justly deserves all of the praise we've afforded it. Without Evernote we'd be even more of a mess come tax time and we're now using it to organize receipts for our deducted expenses by scanning them into it with the Doxie scanner we're testing.

Mint.com: No stranger to Mint.com we're big fans of their mobile apps. Mint will help you keep your finances in order which makes preparing your taxes much easier. Mint has also teamed up with Turbo Tax to make the process of doing your own taxes a breeze.

H&R Block Mobile: If you prefer to go the H&R Block route to tax filing or if you want a quick way to estimate your return, take a gander at this app.
