When's the last time you took around a pocket notebook around? Where once many of brought along a notepad to accompany the wallet and keys, the old fashioned pocket notebook has been replaced with note taking apps as smartphone adoption has become more prevalent. Thoughts, ideas, reminders, and details once limited to paper can now be accompanied by photos, web links, and even messaged to others with a few swipes and taps....

Awesome Note

iOS:

Awesome Note:
Awesome Note was awarded and inducted into the App Store Hall of Fame 2011 and iTunes Rewind 2009 and 2010 awards. We can see why. The level of note editing ipffered by this app could be likened to mini word processor in the pocket, with options to add photos, drawings or map locations. Details such as dates and tags can also be added to each of your notes, while to-do lists and notes in calendar are available for more efficient deadline oriented types who need a day planner on top of just a notepad. Passcode protection for security and syncing to either Google Docs or Evernote for back up purposes are two additional reasons this app comes highly recommended amongst power note takers. iPhone/iPod Touch $4.00 - iPad $5.00

Write 2
Write 2 Ever since the release of OS X Lion, we've been seeing more full-screen apps all taking full advantage of screen real estate while reducing visual clutter, a feature that benefits longer input and working sessions. Write 2 brings full screen writing with style and functionality to iOS, featuring a wide array of options are available, including themes, Dropbox syncing, text expansion as well as PIN protection. Not bad for an app being sold as a two-for-one deal right now (one app for both iPad and iPhone/iPod Touch). $2.00

Compared to the swiss army knife philosophy of an app like Note Everything, AK Notepad pares down features to the minimum, focusing simply upon note taking and how to organize them. Cross Platform:
Evernote
Evernote is the standard of note taking apps and there are several reasons why: cloud storage accessible via desktop or mobile apps, excellent creation, editing and viewing tools, multi-platform support (available for iOS, Android and WP7), and a well designed interface.
