Most DJs we know are mostly obsessively preoccupied with their record collections, equipment and not much more when it comes to decor. But when we're talking about German electronic music DJs, you begin to notice many of them are aesthetically inclined about their spaces. No small feat when you consider living in a space packed with thousands upon thousands of records. The interior above belongs to DJ superstar, Sven Vath, with a few others' living rooms below as examples of how to balance equipment with a living environment...

Talk about shattering the mold from what the standard american living room looks like. My wife and I have different styles, with me leaning towards a more euro/modern flavor so even though these are vastly different from what I currently have I kind of like them.
Anyone know who makes the rug in the DJ's apartment. Its like a cow-inspired print.
funny, not a single gigantic TV in sight!
This is quite possibly the coolest apartmenttherapy post ever!
Just kidding. It is pretty cool though.
Here's some images of Sven Vath's club and restaurants in Germany

Record storage has probably been one of the most nagging problems for dj's. I remember the first time I went to Ikea. There was someone walking around with a house record. I knew what they were up to. They were going to walk around and stick that record into every cabinet they found to see if they could get their records out of crates and into a nice cabinet.
As long as we are talking about techno, I would like to see Jeff Mill's pad as well:

BAD LINK!
Sven Vath's digs are sweet... But that chair in Ricardo Villalobos's crib: Damn!
Ahhh the techno-maximalist splendor of the superstar DJ's living room... the Achilles heel of every superstar DJ's wife/girlfriend's relationship.
^ well... that and groupies...
Who makes the chair in Ricardo Villalobos's crib?
I've seen a lot of people asking about this chair on various boards but I was able to locate it. The chair in Ricardo Villalobos' house is call the "Sarang" rattan armchair that was sold by Habitat UK. It's not available anymore from what I know but occaisionally one or two do become available on Ebay. Good luck in your hunting. I'm after one myself because a similarly crafted "egg chair" that it would go perfect with.
Dwell Magazine has showcased DJ Greyboy's a couple times and I still haven't forgotten how nice it was.

The expedit bookcase from ikea (http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/40047675) is ideal for vinyl, and cheap as dirt. Very sturdy, and it can handle the weight of lots of vinyl without warping. Only drawback is the classic ikea cheap veneer finish on mdf - it doesn't take much to scratch it to the core.
I personally much prefer the look of shelved-up vinyl to any other media. It is thin and papery, akin to books. Basically, it doesn't look 'cheap'. I think CDs on the other hand look tacky in those small but not small enough to be unobtrusive, plastic POS jewel boxes that curse even the best cover graphic. The only way I've ever tolerated keeping CD's in view is to forego order and stack them in rows across a color spectrum from dark to light. In the digital era I've basically decided to go vinyl or mp3/flac ... and cassettes for the car.
omg i NEED to know who makes that rug in the 1st pic!
Any idea of who makes/sells the rug in the first image?
