Tall, Dark, and Handsome: Hill Plain House

Tall, Dark, and Handsome: Hill Plain House

Now this is our kind of bachelor pad. Wolveridge Architects were recently awarded the 2011 Residential Design Award at the Australian Interior Design Awards for their sexy take on a rural house built from the ground up in Victoria.

The surrounding landscape is a major inspiration for this interior, and the decorative walls built of short edges of plywood pieces help to bring the outdoors in. Dark planks of wood form the ceiling, while the floor is of a cool cement. All of the furnishings in Hill Plain House are done in a neutral palette of browns, blacks, and grays, setting off the vibrant yellow kitchen cabinetry that acts as a pop of color in the refined space.
