Tamu's Personalized Abode

My Room

Name: Tamu
Location: San Francisco, CA

Tamu's Nursery was finished just in time for him! It quickly became the favorite room in our flat. My inspiration began with a blue-green color palette because the walls were already a grayish blue-green.

I love all of the personal touches: the painting is by my friend and business partner, Erin; the mobile was made by my mom; my husband spray painted the moose wall hooks and sewed the yellow pillow (it is an African fertility doll); and he and I dip-dyed the curtain panels for an ombre effect. There is plenty of art and several gifts from friends and family displayed throughout his little room.

We really thought a lot about the items to display—we live on the cable car line, so he has a little cable car music box we found on eBay. I also included several stuffed animals from my childhood. My favorite item in the room is the ridiculously comfortable glider. We found it on Craigslist, but it was in a drab brown fabric, so we found this ikat and had it recovered. We spend a lot of time in that chair!
