Vintage Tea Towel Map Quilt & Raffle for East Africa

Vintage souvenir state tea towels are so sweet and fascinating, and can be put to so many uses: sewn into pillowcases, stretched over canvas, hung as curtains, or quilted together to raise money for victims of famine…

Madeleine of Made by Mosey created the gorgeous quilt in the first image out of vintage Australian souvenir tea towels, originally planning to make it for herself and her husband. Instead, she's raffling it off to raise money to help the people of East Africa. To enter the raffle, follow her directions here and cross your fingers, because that quilt is amazing. It instantly reminded me of the fun features Martha Stewart Living has done over the years using vintage state tea towels, hankies, and tablecloths. There are a few on her website, including the Map Textile Stretched Canvas and the Upholstered Map Textile Bench, plus a nice little Decorating With Maps round-up over on Kevin Sharkey's Home Design blog.

If you're lucky enough to score some of these cuties, what would you do with them? Pillows, so you have sweet vacation dreams? A little kitchen curtain to remind you of your home sweet home state? Or perhaps a quilt to raffle off yourself?
