Painted floors are a dynamic way to add color to a space, and Apartment Therapy has been keeping tabs on some of the best examples. We'd like to add this amazing parquet floor to the mix...
Shay Alkalay and Yael Mer have created this installation, appropriately titled Wall to Wall, in an investigation of the connection between flooring and textiles. Using multi-tonal bright colors and a seemingly woven pattern, Alkalay and Mer have created a kind of hybrid between a traditional rug and the floor that it typically sits upon. Gorgeous. I wonder if they were inspired by this: http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://www.apartmenttherapy.com/uimages/la/041309-floor02.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.apartmenttherapy.com/la/look/look-colorful-flooring-via-design-crisis-081716&usg=__dKR_E5y58Zz5XNlsx5K7mG664q8=&h=338&w=540&sz=49&hl=en&start=19&um=1&tbnid=e8JNDycrDKwcSM:&tbnh=83&tbnw=132&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dpainted%2Bherringbone%2Bfloor%26hl%3Den%26rls%3Dcom.microsoft:en-us%26rlz%3D1I7ADSA_en%26sa%3DN%26um%3D1
love it... as long as it's in a sparse room or gallery.
What a great idea.
gorgeous... but man, you must have a ton of faith in the designer who arranges those colors...
but this room is stunning....
It's so ugly !!!
ARGH !!!
Oh... my. Not my speed at all.
Its a brilliant idea but does it really belong in small places like an apartment? I feel as if it promotes more of a clutter feeling than anything, without any space being taken up.
it's absolutely gorgeous, but it really does belong in a large, public space rather than in a home.
Awesome!
i like the idea, a mix between a floor parquet and a colorful carpet
