Name: Joshua (13)
Location: Katy, Texas

Joshua turned 13 and needed a bedroom upgrade for his small 10'x11" bedroom. The room lacked storage except for a small closet. The goal was to bring in as much storage as possible and decorate around the colors that he loves.

We started with plywood floors - that were cut into 6"x96" strips and laid as hardwood, then a paint treatment added for an industrial look. We added a built-in bookcase surrounding the headboard for extra storage and a bed with storage drawers underneath. Lots of fabric patterns were brought in to soften the room and add some interest.

We also carved out a place for Joshua to study and stay organized with school work. An existing dresser owned by his older sister was repurposed by adding 2" stripes for a bold and graphic detail. Joshua loves his room and it definitely fulfills the need for storage, organization and of course speaks to his personality

Most of the pieces were custom made for the room or items repurposed. The desk was a wonderful mid-century meets industrial from West Elm. The sputnik chandelier was from Dot and Bo and is Joshua's favorite item in the room.
