One of the most versatile (at least when it comes to diy possibilities) pieces contained within the walls of IKEA is their Gorm Shelving system. It's been transformed time and time again, most recently into this super storage sleeper set up. Though it's probably a bit crazy for tiny tots, teens and tweens might appreciate its lofted features.
IKEA Hacker always features the latest and greatest when it comes to the repurposing of IKEA products into other functional household items. This bed was created from several sets of Gorm shelving and a few additional pieces of lumber and bracketing supports. Though we might add a few more supporting pieces if we built this for ourselves, we think it's an idea that lends itself to the 8 tons of stuff teens and tweens end up having on hand.
Being a child of that age is a weird transitional time where you're still surrounded by all your stuffed animals and board games and puzzles, but also have all new, older and more mature items coming into your room. This would allow you under bed storage that would keep it all out of sight and organized neatly, or could even be a closet in a pinch.
