Oh wow!!! Beautiful!
Absolutely sensational!
I love that dichotomy of taking contemporary fabric and applying it to a Victorian sofa --so creative!
Wait, let me get this straight - she's working with a manufacturer to copy someone else's design?! Painting a pre-existing (and designed!) piece of furniture is a lovely idea and creates an original piece, but this is NOT design.

Yet so done before:

Oh pleeze, @JohnBa...get a grip. This sofa design has been around for hundreds of years, who would you say "designed" it originally? It's been used by many, in and out of fashion for a very long time. There's a long-established tradition of historically referencing design. And you too, bepsf ..... The woman DESIGNED the fabric to go with the sofa and MADE it herself. It's a successful and creative one-off, primarily because of her hand-painted fabric in contrast to the traditional frame. Now she wants to make some $$$ and save herself some labor by manufacturing her idea. Long history of that within design too. Do you begrudge her a living ? Snarky, peeps. I say Good Job and Good Luck, Suzanne !
I love it. I own a similar settee and plan to upholster it in a bright, modern fabric. Right now it's covered in a drab earthtone tapestry fabric.

Yes, it's a lovely fabric - and yes, the fabric on the sofa is a nice application for her fabric...
...but to say that the application of a contemporary fabric on a traditional frame is new and innovative - well, it's not.
ok everyone has this wrong, I create pieces from recycled items, this is a design competition.I am trying to create something new and to give people a new idea of what we can we do, if we try.

That's not an insult, that's the truth. In fact, that's a compliment. And I agree, creating unique pieces from recycled items is a fantastic idea! And this particular piece is beautiful! But, no, it's not what I'd consider "design."
I love it!!! It's so bright, contemporary in design and happy - I would love to have it as my own!
Blessings.
Sincerely,

Good luck Suzanne!!! your hand painted fabrics are amazing!!! Not like anything I have ever seen before!! Way to go girl!!!!!! Who wouldn't love to have such a unique piece of furniture????
Brilliant work - your hand painted fabric is exceptional!
It made me smile when I first saw it - reminds me of clothing designer "Betsey" Johnson!
I really like the symmetry, and the colors basicically go with any other furniture. excellent work:)
Love it. Fabric is a great contrast to the frame. It would be a great focal piece in almost any room.

By this definition any chair or table with 4 legs isn't "design" because its modeled of pre-existing architecture. Design, much like jazz, is a fluid, evolving animal, where forms and ideas are constantly being repurposed and built upon.
My FABRIC is the design, the SOFA, the end result of how the design can be incorporated,
if you bothered to read the materials used - Fabric and Fabric paint, WOOD was not mentioned and Sam, you also copied someone else's comments !!!
um, people, turning an existing object into art is both DESIGN and FINE ART, with a history stretching back to duchamp's readymades. if anyone is to doubt this, i point you to alessandro medini's proust armchair of 1978- a gaudy antique reproduction transformed by the hand of the designer into art. the proust chair is widely recognized as one of the most revolutionary chair designs of the 20th century, and is now an icon of modern design, and part of many museum's permanent collections design collections, so you go, suzanne- you are in EXCELLENT company- the betsey rocks!

Wow, this sofa is awesome! So bright and vibrant!
amazing focal point for a room. Love the "pop" of color and floral design work! Amazing !! love!
Suzanne,
I copied TWO peoples comments! I was lazy and didn't put the second in quotes, but my post was a reaction to them both. I understand the fabric was the design and I think it's wonderful.
Thank you Sam for your honest comment, but did u see the comment by Maison 21, the BESTY is actually divine DESIGN, M21 knows his design stuff.....
Love it
