These Moroccan-style tables are stylistically specific but look at how modern it feels with a coat of black lacquer and a glass top: http://stylenorth.ca/blog/2008/11/inspiration-an-easy-fix/
I also recommend polishing the feet; it makes a huge difference!
That brass coffee table looks identical to one brought back from Taiwan after the Korean War by my grandfather that now sits polished in my living room. If it has the same elaborate engravings and origin as mine, its a steal at $250. It seems theirs is just very tarnished.
this coffee table has been listed on craigslist for almost a year. i emailed about it several times but never heard back. good luck!
we have a similar table @ home. my boyfriend's grandfather bought it at the world fair back in the 60s
i have a table almost exactly like that, but a bit larger. definitely vintage and authentic. the arches of the legs are more relaxed, the wood is darker and the brass tray looks a bit finer. we found it at Upscale Resale for about $80, waited 4 days to the last day and got it for $56. i did want to put a glass top on it originally, but we lived with it for a while, and now love it. it goes perfectly with a pair of 60s Leolux leather loveseats.
