Ten Vintage (or Reproduction) Bedside Tables and Nightstands

Sometimes antiques or vintage pieces are beautiful but impractical. These night stands, however, fulfill (to varying degrees) my two main requirements in a bedside table: adequate surface area and sufficient storage space in the form of shelves or drawers. The addition of a vintage or antique table can be just the thing to revive an otherwise neutral contemporary room.

And if your budget prohibits you from investing in a larger (and pricier) antique like a sideboard or dining room table, occasional tables are likely to be a more affordable option. If you are looking for a bedside table remember to expand your search terms: In addition to occasional tables, side tables, and night stands, console tables and coffee tables can sometimes work (even if it means sawing off the bottom of the table...not advisable with a true antique of course!).

FIRST ROW
1 Teak side table, Midcentury LA, $375.
2 Pembroke drop leaf bedside table. Crafted of solid walnut about 1915. Harp Gallery at Ruby Lane, $575.
3 Old farm table that has been cut down to serve as a bedside table. Because, if you have the space, why not have a longer table next to your bed? HGTV.
4 Vintage 1960s gold painted Italian console. I love the idea of using a console table as a bedside table because it takes up less of a footprint and is such a unique look. Trouble is that most console tables (this one included) are too high to be practical for most beds. Still, with a higher mattress and lots of pillows this console table could look really fun next to the bed. Antiques by CR King, $500.
5 This tiered table provides lots of shelf space for books and other miscellany. It also comes in white. Wisteria, $399.

SECOND ROW
6 English Victorian mahogany table made in 1890. Antique Elements in Design on Ruby Lane, $425. Quite a steal for a legitimate antique.
7 Side table from Wisteria. On sale for $91.60 (60% off).
8 Danish modern occasional table. Danish Teak Classics, $295.
9 1960s end table. Lost and Found Vintage Treasures at Ruby Lane, $85.
10Danish Teak Classics, $345.
