- What I Love About My Small Home:
- Besides the the location situated on a bike/walking path, I love the easy flow of the house. It's long and narrow, but somehow it works and because of the high ceilings and natural light, it always feels spacious.
- Biggest Challenge of Living in a Small Space
- I recently downsized from a much bigger house, so getting rid of 'stuff' was slightly overwhelming. I really had to edit, edit, edit. I had to give up some things I really loved, but had no place for. Also, since the house is cinderblock, hanging things on the wall is a serious commitment! It requires drills and levels and patching...I've become quite the handyman though!

Corgi!!!
I really like this space but I would have put the TV on the credenza rather than wall mounting it. It just looks out of place and floating on the wall.
I really like your bathroom!
Your collection of lamps is amazing!
OH - IO ?
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU for not tearing out the pink tile. I fear those lovely 50s (40s?) bathrooms will soon all be the thing of memories.
Why is the TV so high? Nice space though.
@MOELK I live in OH and heard that chanted in the back of my mind instantly!!! IO!
You saved your pink bathroom!

Love the orange blanket and kitty on the bed.
I dig the mirror ball. I've been thinking of hanging up one, but the motors I've seen are eye sores. Now I'm thinking about hanging up a mirror ball without a motor since it looks so nice in your space.
I love your place! It caught me eye right away because it reminds me of my own decor. I like the earth colors, touches of orange, the warm woods, and the light paint color in the living room. It looks like mine, which is called Winter Garden. I don't remember the brand of the paint.
I am in agreement with some of the others that the flat screen tv is hung too high. I think you'd be pleased with a lower placement, and I'd put a couple of tall accessories such as bottles, vases, plant, etc. on the console beneath the tv.
I'm sure you enjoy your place. It is nice.
I love the corgi and the kitty!
Seriously, I like the place. I really like the mirror (?) that's hanging above the bed. I even love the touch of whimsy the disco ball adds to the place.
That bedroom looks sooo comfy. I like that you embrace the tile in the bathroom, too. Whenever I see people on HGTV trashing similar tiling I want to yell, "YOU HAVE NO IMAGINATION."
Great place! Ouch. Editing things you love. I feel ya on that one.
I forwarded your entry to my Beatle loving husband wondering what that poster was in your living room...turns out he had it back in the 60's hanging over his bed. He was excited to see it again as it's looong gone. :) Thanks for the memories!!
Diggin' that olive pillow, too! :P
thanks all for the happy compliments! I just had to say that the TV does look a little weird hanging there in space, but the console below it is actually a vintage record player/radio. The top opens up so I can't put anything on it sadly, but I hope I get points for even having it. It sounds great too!
Also regarding the bathroom tiles, my thinking is, if you want the pink and black tile torn out, you're dead inside!!
I love the star-burst mirror layered over the curtains behind the bed. Makes me want to move my bedroom furniture around :-)
Nice funky retro Hollywood glam vibe going on! Love that yellow fruit scale holding fruit in the kitchen. Gotta have one of those, can you share where you found that treasure? The only thing I'm not lovin' is the wooden butler tray holding liquors next to the round wooden table. A little too heavy looking IMHO. I think a gold and glass one (i.e. Mad Men) would look so make better there. Nice job!
I see those ranch-y beamed ceilings and pink 50s bathroom and think... LA! I love it.
Gorgeous!
You get a vote from me because I like your cat.
Can anyone tell me where I can buy one of the oversized letters in this home? They are also used in a lot of other homes. I'd love a D! Thank you!
That's lovely.
Olive pillow! I must find one now!
@melissapauline, I can't be sure where this one came from, but I know I saw orange blankets like that at Ikea. I have a charcoal one.
I love the yellow scale - it's such a teaser, I'd love to see more of the kitchen!
Great living room pieces, too, I like it!
Love your space - my sister lives on the bike path too! Nice you kept the pink tile in the bathroom and I love the beamed ceiling in your living room - is that original to the house?
Hi all. Thought I would answer some of the questions posted. @DanielCLT I got the oversized letter at a little place in West LA called This is Not Ikea (http://www.thisisnotikea.com/). @melissapauline and @wildlysimple YES, I got the orange blanket at Ikea. The olive pillow @rhfaz was a gift!
The cat is named Winston, the dog is Henry. They loved all the nice compliments!
