Name: Tess
Location: Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
Type of Home: single family home
Color Inspiration: I'm a girl who loves a good bubble bath, and nothing makes it more enjoyable than a fresh, crisp bathroom! The bright, fervent greens in plant life inspired my bold palate — more specifically, the two framed photos taken at the Phipps Conservatory on my husband's and my first visit to our new home of Pittsburgh. Nothing is more refreshing than a little touch of nature, but these greens wont fade and fall come winter!

Colors Used: Deep Space, Frost, and Chlorophyl in Behr Flat Enamel
Color Tip: Your walls are a canvas, your paintbrush a box of crayons. Channel your inner 5 year old. Have fun, and remember, it's the stark canvas that makes your colors appear so bright!

I love this, especially the highlighting of the doorframe and tile surround, and the inside of the cabinet ledge and I think the combination of colours is great for a bathroom.
Lovely bathroom. Glad to hear you like Pittsburgh, it was my home for a while.
Thanks for sharing.
Hello fellow Pittsburgher! I like this room very much.
hooray phipps conservatory :)
This is so refreshing!! I love the color co-ordinations. Bravo!
I must say, this is some excellent work.

Tess, it is mainly your fault that 50% of my brain power throughout the day is devoted to mentally decorating wherever Stephen and I end up living. <3
.I love the bathroom, however, other than the towels, this does not fit into the colour contest at all...as there is no colour. Maybe FALL CURE??
i think this is a great room. i'm not sure it fits into the color contest, but maybe it does. i see it as a good example for people who aren't allowed to paint. they can bring in color w/ accessories. i would love to have that bathroom.
Agreeing w/the last two posters. Take away the towels and -- aside from the small green strip where the Q-tips and cotton balls reside -- it's a black and white room. A perfectly nice room, but not a "colorful" one.
Really? You put out towels and think that qualifies you for a color competition? That bath towel isn't even folded tidily.
Hi... I'm Tess.
This was my reaction to the onslaught of 'put as much color in the room as possible' entries. I designed this room around the 2 bright green framed photos, and yes, the only other pops of color are the towels (why shouldn't they count? they're always there), and the inside of the medicine cabinet. For such a tiny room, this was an exercise in a very restricted use of color. I firmly believe that sharp, small instances of color against a blank canvas can be the brightest, most severe ways to present color. This room is green... but that green is bright because of that very simplistic backdrop on which it is presented.
The competition is about how we use color... and this is how I've used it in such a tiny, little room.
I think this is gorgeous, and it's one of my favorite uses of color in the contest.
I'm confused about that how that towel isn't folded tidily...
But I certainly agree that use of color can be far more effective than quantity.
I love it tess!!! it makes me wish i had time and money to spend on my apartment!
loves! mere
Green towels do not make this hit the "color contest mark". Now, if this was a contest for sleek and stark....it is that.
WIENDERFUL use of measured color.
