Textile Inspiration: SoundSuits by Nick Cave

Part fashion extravaganza, part sculpture, part performance art piece, artist Nick Cave's colorful costumes, dubbed SoundSuits, also offer much when it comes to inspiration for textiles at home — where a mix and match of bright multi-cultural patterns, textures, and colors are just the thing to make spring arrive a little more quickly.

The Chicago-based Nick Cave (not to be confused with the singer of the same name) creates the suits from found objects, textured fabrics, even plastic and metal. The mix of materials present brilliant juxtapositions of styles from glam to granny to ethnic to whimsical — true styling genius.

Nick Cave is represented by the Jack Shainman Gallery, view more images of his work on the gallery's website or on Nick Cave's website, SoundSuitShop. Limited editions of photographs of the SoundSuits in motion are available from Art + Culture Editions.
