I was browsing FAO Schwarz's website the other day and had to rub my eyes at the price tag on one of the Etch-a-Sketchs - $1,500! Pause for a moment and picture it in your mind - what do you see? Something gold plated? Something huge? Something futuristic?

Something that would have been on Liberace's wishlist?
This limited edition Etch-a-Sketch is adorned with "over 10,000 dazzling, handset sapphire Swarovski crystals." Only 6 are available and, unfortunately, gift wrapping is not available.
Check it out for yourself on FAO Schwarz.

$1500 and you cant have it gift wrapped? OUTRAGEOUS! ;)
Not envious of the people who got stuck with those jobs.
But why?
I mean about the product itself, not the previous comments. Just, why?
It's something I can picture Gwen Stephani buying for her kids!!
What a waste.
I can understand a collector going for this. Unfortunately, this doesn't hold because collecting precisely means to preserve something AS IS. This has nothing to do with the original etch-a-sketch, even though that is what is hiding under all that bling bling.
If such nonsensical goods exist and are offered for sale, that means there are people who are interested in buying them, even at such an outrageous price. That is just sad...
Huh?
I really don't care if someone wants to spend $1500 on a sapphire covered etch-a-sketch. But why?
Why- and there are starving ppl in the world PEOPLE!!!!
That item didn't shock me as much as the $25,000 Barbie foosball table.
*blink*
larslobster - Now I totally want to go make a DIY barbie foosball table. That would be awesome, and not actually insanely unreasonable to do.
wow~ a barbie foosball table sounds AWESOME!! maybe not 25k awesome, but still.
And yet, I'm not sure a child would have more fun with the diamond one... which is why I would buy this game. So, sticking with the plain one !
Couldn't they have at least made it red? This is disgusting.
