Today's Video
Today we air our final video of the Fall Cure season. It features some wrap up comments and those graduates who sent themselves in for consideration. There are only nine of them, but they are fabulous and I hope that they pave the way for more to send in a photo in the future. Enjoy and see you in 2011!

Thanks for this cure! It was fun to do it, my home feels so much better now, although I'm sad it's over!
I'm sad the cure is over too, but looking forward to the kitchen cure with Sara Kate in the Spring- Thanks Max! I tell everyone I know about AT, have it on my Bio on FB. Love, love, love the site!
How good of Maxwell to point out in the video that this 20/20 Cure will be available to any one, any time. I look forward to following along when more mobile.
Thank you for letting the videos and to-do lists online !
I loved the cure and look forward towards the next one !
ha! maxwell, you're so great!
I didn't care for this Cure. I think I preferred the old format. I do think this is good in its own way, but it didn't really feel like a "cure" to me.
One of the problems I had was the during the week format. I have three kids and I am BUSY during the week. Weekdays, I really try to keep up on the basics, but I do most of my cleaning on the weekend. As far as buying flowers and cleaners, I do my shopping on the weekends too, and really try to avoid extra trips to the store during the week. Cooking is another one that didn't apply to me. We have a daughter with dietary issues, so I cook EVERY night (and nearly everything is from scratch--not by choice, but right now it's necessary). Hanging artwork is something I desperately need to do, but it's definitely a weekend project for me. I am here to tell you: saving up all of the weekly 20 minute projects for the weekend takes the easy right out of it!
I did like some things though. I really enjoyed the videos, and I like the 20 minutes a day. I'd love to maybe see a cure that was somewhere between this one and the old one. Maybe, daily 20 minute tasks within the weekly theme? Or this cure in the fall, and a bigger cure in the spring? I don't know, but this seemed really popular with everybody else, so maybe it's just me.
I guess I felt like the things this Cure addressed are more the day-to-day things I do anyway. The thing I liked about the old cure was that it really helped me focus on the big picture and tackle some of the bigger projects in my house that get put off because they seem overwhelming. I also missed the bonding of the old cure--I think my favorite part was seeing all of the before and after pictures, and getting and giving feedback and encouragement. Also, having my own horrible "before" pictures out there for everyone to see was a great motivator!
I was just a few days shy of graduation... I will try harder next time!
I have participated in many Home Cures. I think this format for this time of year was fine. I, too, missed the 8-step Cure--but seeing as I didn't finish this last week, it was probably all I could handle.
But, I really think you should bring back the 8 week cure in the Spring. This felt like a "baby" cure, not just because of the format, but because so many of the tasks in the full version of the Cure were simply more robust than the tasks we were given to do here. Deep cleans in the 8 week Cure are so thorough, that painting sometimes seems like the natural next step. Everything was all prepared. Light housekeeping is not the same thing. Except for flowers, we skipped the heart tasks. I missed that.
Do you have the sense people engaged with their homes and transformed their relationship to it? Made it more intimate, more personal, and made it more functional and supportive of our spirits?
Can that be done in 20 minutes a day, over 4 weeks?
Congrats!!! to all of us who participate in this 20/20 home cure with Maxwell, Rebecca and Apartment Therapy... the first cure with videos and a lot of fun!
Thank you guys once again :)
Thanks for putting together this great little project. This is the first time I am out on my own and so, as no-brainer as most of these tips were (I had many "duh" moments as I followed along), stringing them together like this was such an inspiration! Can't wait for the next one!
Hey all of you who miss the 8 Week Cure.. we're not done experimenting yet and ultimately will seek to find a way to accomodate both the light and the deep CUREES. this was just one big new thing for us.
With your feedback, we'll keep tweaking. See you in the Spring!
I liked the format of this cure -- I didn't finish everything -- only completed 14/20 items. But that's 70%! So I'm figuring I just barely graduated. ;-)
Hmm. I prefered this cure over the 8 week one, but that's because I live alone (no distractions), I live in a tiny studio (not much surface to clean, not much to sort through), and I clean and tidy up regularly (if I had to skip a few days of the cure, no big deal because I wasn't going to have a lot to tackle in 20 minutes).
My only regret is I didn't have any extra money to purchase the art i wanted for my walls. They're so drab and bare.
Maxwell, what's the music playing in the background of this last episode? It's great!
Oh Wow!!! There was a surprise!!! My kids and I are in the habit of watching a "Max movie" after dinner each evening and we were all amazed to see "Se7en" on the screen - ?is that us!!! What fun!!! Thanks for the heads up!!! We have totally loved the Cure and I am just wondering wether we should just re-run the series starting tomorrow night!!! Thanks again - it has been great!!!
The music was a tad loud in this video... made it hard to hear Maxwell.
But overall I've been very please with this series! I really love having a short video to watch, as I feel like you're talk to ME, versus everyone (and I'm a small number on a large list).
Having said that, I have to echo some of the other comments. I hope that you will balance out these shorter cures with the original (or revamped, but still as thorough) Cure. I had a lot of fun this time and was able to follow along the whole time, but I feel like my house hasn't change very much, since it was all surface level.
Hope my two cents are helpful. And thanks so much for being flexible and trying new things in an effort to reach the most amount of people. :)
PS
Never got the e-mail for this post... :(
I really enjoyed this. I've been reading the 8 week cure while I've been doing this (love the design anecdotes) really saw a correlation between the 20/20 and the 8 week. I look foreword to finishing the book and participating in the next 8 week Cure.
I was thinking, how about doing the 20/20 cure in june and december, and the classic 8 weeks cure un september and spring ?
I know it may be too much, but think about it: preparing for summer and Christmas entertaining would go perfectly with a "light" cure, whereas a much deeper and longer cure would fit the "change of season enthousiasm" much better.
Anyway, I'm doing a 20/20 cure in december !
This cure was the best jump start I could have gotten- even though I started about 10 days late, I doubled up and got through everything. (not an over-achiever, just desperate!)
I do hope you'll go back to the old format in the spring, though - we rookies deserve a chance to get into the big leagues.
Meanwhile, I plan to repeat 20/20 like a mantra: Home....home....home.....
Would like to see the 8 step cure again...please do the kitchen cure at a different time
I loved this cure! So helpfull!
Yes, I confess, I "lurked!" But I did get some organizing done, inspired by everyone else's hard work. Thanks! :)
I loved the 20/20 cure. The short videos were a good amount for me to digest. I liked having a small daily goal. I am also enjoying buying/finding flowers for our home each week. I didn't mean to be a lurker and meant to send in a photo for "graduation". Maxwell, you got rid of all of your records, but our big accomplishment was finally hooking up our record player and speakers so we could enjoy our records again (it's been 2+ years since we moved and this has been a to-do for us ever since). We also washed ALL the windows in our house, upstairs and downstairs, inside and out. I used the newspaper method you suggested on the inside windows. That was a new way to wash windows for me, but the windows are now the most clean they have ever been. Thanks for all for a fun, inspiring 20 days.
Oh, thank you for showing the 'secret', as my family doesn't watch the cure it isn't a problem, it just makes me want to get all the sewing done soon.
I enjoyed this format as it was encouraging but not too demanding, therefore I was happy to do a bit more in some aspects as we already do some of the tasks you suggested. Otherwise I might have dropped out feeling inadequate. Instead I feel like tackling some more home-related projects, a much better feeling and outlook, isn't it?
I loved this Cure...my whole apartment transformed. I finished it late so I didn't get to turn in photos but I documented the whole process on my site. I was amazed that this much significant change could occur in such a short time. Thank you Maxwell and everyone who participated - there was a lot of energy behind this. http://www.palaisprofessionalorganizer.com/
