The ASUS Designo LS246H Rings Up a Nice Design

It's more than obvious that ASUS was aiming high(er) end with this new display, with a sophisticated black minimalist casing that conveys boutique tech. Despite the model name (couldn't they find a more subtle way to convey the design bent beyond adding an -o to the name), the ASUS Designo LS246H sports some notable features that make it a standout amongst the throngs of typical displays…

Like the product post earlier today illustrates, display manufacturers are trying to distinguish themselves with models with unique features beyond hardware performance specs. The ASUS Designo LS246H also uses up to 30% less power and is manufactured with 50% less hazardous materials. The nearly 24" screen is 1920x1080 with HDMI and VGA connections for easily hookup to a gaming console or Blu-ray player, once again pointing at the trend towards combining office tech with home entertainment tech for bedrooms or home offices.

Other details include a touch sensitive control dial that graces the front panel, offering a TV-like experience instead of typical monitor display buttons. And of course, there's the ring-shaped stand, which is either going to wow you over or turn you off to the design (although most of the time one wouldn't be able to see the stand while in use). We're not sure about the ring shape, as we'll have to see it in person, but the case itself seems quite handsome in finish and detail, marking this as one of the more eye pleasing monitors.
