We got this uh, toaster poacher thing from our sister last year for our birthday. At first we thought it was a joke, but we also have a sneaking suspicion that this could have been a re-gift from the overflow of wedding presents she got. After we got over our initial reaction, we figured we might as well give it the old college try. (It looks like it was invented in a dorm room, doesn't it?)
Our first Egg non-McMuffin started out not too bad: the muffins were popping up right when the egg was just poached, and the ham was...kinda gross. OK, we didn't put the ham in there because it was six shades of nasty with the condensation. Basically, you fill the well area with water, and that boils up and heats up the ham (bottom level) and poaches the egg (top level) simultaneously. If we had to rate this kitchen gadget, we'd give the Toaster-n-Poacher a solid 4 out of 10. It's a great contender for freshman dorm life, but beyond that? We'd be better off separating our toast from our eggs.
