Craigslist has survived and and even prospered sticking with their bare bones, anti-design philosophy. But as anyone who has used the site to search for an apartment or house rental soon learns, navigating listings can be a game of fill-in-the-blanks. A team of designers is looking to improve the process of creating an ad and also ensure it has all the info people are looking for...
We love Craigslist. But If you've ever tried to look for an apartment on Craigslist, you know how frustrating it can be. Some apartment listings tell you critical information, and some don't. Some look ok, but most don't.You're supposed to make one of the most important decisions of your life - where to live - based on that.
Currently: On Craigslist, posters start with a blank slate and have to remember what information is key and then work hard to get it displayed right every time.
Now imagine this: Anyone creating an apartment listing can use our free, online wizard, answering questions that we've highlighted as really important to you. We then produce a listing that can be used on Craigslist (or anywhere else!).
Creating a listing is totally free, no sign-up required, and no advertisements ruining the experience.
We want to make it free and easy to make every Craigslist post well thought-out and useful:

It would make very good sense if they set it up where the images of rentals, or even items was right under the title and if there was a built in structure of listings instead of everything looking horrid.
I realize the reasoning behind the simple layout, but the problems have also been that in many areas, if you include html tags.. which they claim are allowed, someone will tag them as spam, and they will be deleted without actually being viewed by the so-called 'monitors.'
If this becomes a real option instead of someone's wish, craigslist will see a monumental shift in use by even those who are technologically challenged.
I hope some day its more than a pipe dream.
