Every once in a while, we have these "duh!"
moments—where seemingly simple solutions rise up out of the mess of overtly complicated ones presented in blogs and magazines, making us wonder why we didn't think of it ourselves. This is one of those things: Instead of continuing to spend your latte money on cord labels, buy a metallic Sharpie marker just once.
Whether your cord-labeling disaster is in your desk drawer or behind your TV stand, a silver Sharpie is all you need to keep order.
It's simple: Just write on them. The metallic silver Sharpie has the dubious distinction of being a dependable marker that will legibly write on both black and lighter colored surfaces—perfect for cords!
Label your camera upload cord with the word "camera," or a small hand-drawn icon of a camera if you're so inclined, to tell it apart from your other USB dongles. Or jot down a quick "M" on the business end of the power cord attached to your modem—you won't have to play that "follow the wire" game behind your desk the next time a tech tells you to unplug it.
We're sure there's a million other ways that you could put a writes-on-everything Sharpie to use in your home and home office. So if you have a "duh!" moment while reading this, be sure to leave a comment!
