Well, for design-loving Austin residents, anyway! The annual AIA Homes Tour will be here soon, and we’re super excited not just for the gorgeous homes we will get to poke around in person this year, but also for the element many of them have in common.
We’re just the biggest fans of the AIA Austin Homes Tour (you can see some past coverage here and here) not just because we like being nosy and seeing where people live, but because it’s often one of the best showcases of the hottest trends in design and some of the best talent that Austin has to offer. In other words, even if we can't personally afford to live in any of these homes ourselves, we always come out of it full of inspiration for our own home! AIA Austin is holding its annual Homes Tour this year on the weekend of October 2nd to 3rd from 12pm to 6pm each day. This will also be the 24th anniversary of the tour, which isn’t just popular in Austin; it’s earned a regional and national reputation. Just a few of the names on this tour will be Alterstudio Architects, Bercy Chen Studio, Dick Clark Architecture, Webber + Studio and more. Though there will be a few new construction homes on the tour, we're happy to see a lot of renovations getting much-needed focus this year. Don’t live in Austin? You can still get inspired by the city’s best residential architecture! We’ll be posting more in the coming weeks, so you’ll want to check back to find some modern inspiration for your own home. If you do live in Austin and want to go to the tour, tickets go on sale today. (And by the way, we had the pleasure of getting a sneak peek of one of the homes on the tour at an event last night, and we were blown away!) (Photos: Jonathon Jackson, JH Jackson Photography)
