Sara Kate was so happy that we were done with the first part. Look at that empty room! Thanks especially to Herma for orchestrating and All Star Movers for being cracker jack.
Since 2001 Apartment Therapy's office has been located in my bedroom, in a big old commercial loft in TriBeCa (with Lockhart Steele and the Gawker gang) and, for the past four years, in two small rooms at the south end of Crosby Street near Chinatown. This week, therefore, marks a big step up for us, as we move our ten person New York team up in the world…
…to a really nice space in SoHo with views of Brooklyn. Following are pics of the move with the new office and a few choice IKEA items that I love to hack and use everywhere we go.
Next week, I'll show you the new office completely done up with all sorts of nonsense like a phone system, computers humming, network printers going and blogging at high speed.
The old Crosby Street office with everything boxed up. Barely room to move, though Herma is doing a great job of getting everything ready in the background.
The office is empty and everything's on the truck!
The new space with Bill Skinner and I working on putting together the new desks — made from IKEA Lagan countertop and Vikka Inge legs. Bill's company, Astech Closets, is a great resource and we've used them for years.
This IKEA kitchen butcher block is awesome. Solid wood, generous proportions and nice details, we have one at home and in the new office kitchen. It's another fave.
Ursula vacuums late in the evening!
