One of our favorite things about the internet is how easy it is to see something cool, then to buy it or share it with friends. With 'Buy Now' buttons and 'Post to Facebook' links, communication is a no-brainer. Wouldn't it be cool to be able to make that connectivity work with your TV?
The future isn't far. A company called Hand Eye Technologies is working on making it real.
By connecting a Hand-Eye-Interactive-Technology- (HIT) enabled device (it'll be kind of like a set-top cable box) to your TV, you're opening up a world of possibilities.
Each time you're watching a TV show and think, "Damn, that's a cool couch!," you can point your HIT-enabled smart phone at the screen. If the show was embedded with an Interactive Television (ITV) "HotSpot" (like an embedded link if it were on the 'net), your mobile will let you know and give you plenty of info about the couch and where to get it.
It's obviously going to take awhile and require a lot of help from mobile manufacturers and television networks to come to life, but it might not be far. CEO Jonathan Kessler says he's already in talks with one of the networks!
According to CNET, Hand Eye Technologies will be pitching to the "Launchpad for Emerging Technology" Demo conference today in San Diego. We can't wait to see if this might be the next big thing!
