See those windows up there? Yes, the big Bloomingdale's windows on Lexington Avenue? Well, starting next week, we're taking them over. We're partnering with Bloomingdale's to help them promote their new line of Furniture on 5, by tapping our reader's talent and designing four room settings in four very different styles. Jane Mount, Curtis Robertson and Patrick Hamilton — who have all been featured on our sites and in our last book — are installing the room of their dreams and you get to vote on which design you like best. Interested? Head on over to our new mini site page find out how to vote and win one room for yourself! >> www.bigwindowchallenge.com

Shaw's Original Fir...
wow, that's some kinda awesome!
Very cool, Maxwell, congrats!
However, I sincerely wish you would get rid of the MS Paint-purple-spray can editing of photos. It is pretty ugly. Unless there is a long-standing inside joke that I don't get.
That's fantastic! Congrats to the AT team!
Yay!
Wow, that's really great, congratulations.
Being a window dresser was actually a dream of mine, I'd still love to do it, but we don't have these kinds of opportunities as much in Denver.
Hope AT has more than one reader, in which case it will tap "our readers' talent".
Great Contest! Wish I was still in NYC to check it out.
I was going to comment on the lone reader's talent but davidasposted beat me to it. AT, please have some sort of internal apostrophe workshop! Reading AT regularly is a bit too much like having to walk past the same bodega sign advertising "fresh flower's" every day.
First, congratulations.
Second, I hate to pile on, but as a journalist (writer and editor) the grammar issues in many AT posts can be teeth-grittingly painful. Between apostrophe problems and that ridiculous insistence on "we" even when talking about "our boyfriend" or "our girlfriend's bed," it can read as if this site were written by members of a polygamous design cult whose English classes ended after ninth grade.
I'm not saying this to be snarky or nit-picky. I'd love to help. I know a slew of editors (myself included but others throughout the country) who would probably be willing to proofread posts for a nominal fee -- or who would be willing to do so for free in exchange for design assistance.
PS: Yes, I know "teeth-grittingly" isn't a word.
wow, this is really really cool! can't wait to see your ideas!
Wish I could be in NYC to check it out...
wow, bloomingdale's on lex...that's a pretty big deal...it's nice to follow something and see it developing...congrats
re grammar and typos and stuff - i would think professionals, people who're actually paid good money to write and edit etc, would be the first to let minor errors slide...it's part of the job. this is a blog, not like the NYTimes or anything...i find it's most often the frustrated journalist/magazine writer wannabes english majors who are scrutinizing every hyphen, apotrophe, etc...i don't mind the errors at all as long as the content is good...
I agree jplee that a professional advertisement driven blog needs an editor, always money well spent. Only commenters can have poor grammar, punctuation and syntax.
NOT advertising driven blogs!
Now for my rant aobut polls and voting for decorators windows and all other artistic works. Bad idea!
Whose idea was it to create polls and vote for things that are taste driven, and ultimately irrelevant except to insult the "losers" who are equally as creative but not your taste.
Can AT be the blog to stop the insanity instead of contributing to insulting artists/craftspeople/decorators/ bloggers.
The HOMMIES was enough of a pointless fiasco, it all feels so adolescent to vote and take polls for popularity of creativity and personal taste.
It is transparent, we all know it is done for you and Bloomingdale's to generate advertising $$$ and eyeballs for AT.
P.S. Have a sunshiny day, maybe I'll feel differently about voting and insulting other creative people when I caffenaited myself.
dewi, please count to ten next time before you post. Of course this blog (and most other blogs for that matter) are advertisement-driven, and of course polls are taste-driven. Are you paying a subscription fee to AT? Do you think AT is working so hard on this blog just for sh**s and giggles? And is Bloomingdales somehow supposed to be a non-profit charity? Of course they're doing this for the promotion as well. This sounds like a fun idea that is mutually beneficial to all involved, including the readers of AT.
dewi,
If you go the the Web site he linked, you'll see that there will be a poll because a reader will get to win the room.
Go to the page for more details.
Congrats to patrick (too) and Curtis!
Wow! Congrats to AT, AT-ers, and patrick (too) and Curtis! So excited. Will definitely swing by to check it out. Are they being installed as we speak? Maybe I should bring pom-poms in Apartment Therapy New York colors? :)
By the way, in case anyone is confused about which Jane it is, it's the Jane of "Jane and Darko's Cozy Thicket", which is on page 114 of the book, in case anyone wants to follow along in their "hymnal", hee hee.
She's the one who painted that adorable bear on the headboard, and there was the photo mural of the forest on the bifold doors.
Awesome. Good luck to Patrick, Curtis, and Jane. I can't wait to see the results.
This sounds like a fun contest!I'm looking forward to seeing what the three do.
And I really like the magenta spray paint.
hejiranyc,
I counted to ten.
Well, then call me a socialist if I disagree with all creative endeavors being revenue driven.
I can't wait to see those windows and the new Bloomingdales Furniture Floor at the party!
Congratulations ... this necessitates a special trip to the East Side!
And khanzen, the people who're actually paid money to write and edit (such as I) would lose our jobs if we "let minor errors slide" ... it's NOT part of the job!
thanks for the clarification, Curtis!
I had a feeling it was "that Jane." And we love her, too.
Will check out the windows on Friday when I am in the 'hood.
can't wait!
*s
okay swung by but there was a massive line? argh. will have to go by again and really take my time. the people who wait to get into bloomie's are really rude and did not like the fact i was trying to see the frickin' windows. boo.

Come by at night, after the lines for free cosmetics are gone, and when the windows really shine.
