Over the years I've seen many different mediums used throughout the home. That said, I never thought I would be sharing a home of this nature with you all. This rent-able artist compound in Texas is laced through and through with bone. Although I'm not sure where it all came from, it pieces together quite interestingly.
Dan Phillips has spent the better part of recent years sculpting and creating with bone. It might sound odd but the unusual material been used in many different ways throughout his space in Texas — it makes up the edges of stairs, is used as door handles, and even makes up the outdoor patio furniture. Definitely cool, creative and maybe just a little bit creepy!

White Enamel Flatwa...
I think the bones are pretty cool, but I'm going to be honest... the wood paneling everywhere WITH the bones reminds me of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. I'd be expecting Grandpa to be coming down the stairs for dinner at any moment.
Pretty whacky. A labor of love for sure. Probably cow bone, living in TX and judging by the size of the scapulas, for instance.
I frequently pick up washed bone on beaches, now I have a plan for them! A door handle, for one. Thanks for the inspiration!
Not sure how I feel about the house, but the outdoor seating area is FABULOUS.
I spent a lot of time on my grandpa's farm in south Texas as a child, and it was really common to see bones of some animal lying in a field. Still, this house creeps me out to no end and there's no way I could sit on that furniture. That staircase is just plain frightening.
It doesn't look like a safe place to lodge for the night. When are the hill trolls coming home?
Seems like an excellent way to convince visitors that you're a serial killer.
Very unique and has better tonal contrast plus lighting than those Dahmer crime scene pics!
Haha, the bones don't bug me at all. I was just going to say, some of the bones look like an afterthought (hm, stick a bone here, stick a bone there...) and from a design standpoint could've been incorporated much more organically.
I find the efforts and the aesthetic original but definitely odd, creepy, and "unlivable" IMO.
Creepy
Just another Blair Witch project. :-)
I have an odd phobia of bones. I would not want to touch anything in that house.
super creepy
Pretty creepy as whole house decor... But when we first moved to Austin we lived near a house with a big archway decorated with cow skulls and bones. It was oddly fascinating.
I'm with fatskinnygirl...TCM all the way. All I could think of was Leatherface slamming the door near the stairs...
pretty cool...still nothing on the Sedlec Ossuary, but then you can't rent the Ossuary and stay there.
I think if I was buying any of this stuff, or the house, rather than making it myself, I'd definitely want some provenance info. You know?
That is just way too much death to be surrounded by for me....
I don't think im gonna like to come into your house.lol
Do they have dogs? My labs would go bananas.
BEST place to have an AWESOME Halloween party! That would be great to see it all decorated up haha
Ok, ok, ok..... For me it's not really about the bones...
It is about the taste!!! Just absolutely awful. This is the most literal, and most get-away-with-this-as-fast-as-you-can kind of way of putting bones wherever you can to "enhance" the house.
The owner made his point, at the end of the day is his property so he can suit it as he wish.
Haaaaaaaaaaaa! at Trish1980 and jburn.
Is this house located in Bedrock? I'll settle for a Georgia O'keeffe print.
Serial killer chic.
"maybe a "LITTLE" creepy"????
Ick!
