It's color month at Ohdeedoh and it's got me thinking about a color I'm starting to see crop up more and more in the home. I'm talking about the color purple. Admittedly, it's a hard color to use in large amounts. But when done right, it's truly eye catching.
The room pictured above is from the home of designer David Kaihoi in New York City's East Village (see the whole home on House Beautiful). If purple walls, windows, trim, upholstery and textiles is too much for you, you can just dabble in a little purple. For example, Stokke introduced a purple Tripp Trapp highchair last month which is a perfect opportunity for using a small amount of purple in your home.

White Enamel Four-P...
Actually, I do have a purple bedroom my my girls and I love it. Will try to post pictures and share it with you.
my daughter's room is a light purple--martha stewart cotton candy color matched in sherwin williams harmony. I know the name sounds pink, but it is really a pale purply color with a hit of gray. she is only 16 months, so I don't know how she feels about it, but I'll admit that I really like it and wish my room was that color.
Funny - I've been debating painting my kitchen purple (it's a rental with awful grey countertops, and a LOT of natural oak cabinets). My thought was that a plummy/purple would work with both, and that since the cabinets take up so much wall space, the purple would be more of an accent color. But I've been too scared to actually take the plunge! This is inspiring...
We used Ralph Lauren Canyon Iris for our dining room's vaulted ceiling:
Rob & Dede's dining room at Kirkwood Manor
Rosie, we had previously used this color in our kitchen with grey-ish counterop laminate & maple cabinetry and it was striking! Go for it!
